Dr Michelle L Todman Smith was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Bank of the Virgin Islands (the Bank) in 2024.
Dr Todman Smith brings over 23 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the international financial services industry and its products. She specialises in financial services regulation and supervision with expertise in banking, money services and financing business, corporate services, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Her experience encompasses senior and executive management roles in financial services and social administration, where she has served as Director, Deputy Director, and Chief Operating Officer. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Bellevue University, USA, and is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association, UK.
Dr Todman Smith has represented the British Virgin Islands on regional and international platforms organised by prominent “watchdog” agencies such as the Caribbean Group of Banking Supervisors, the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force, the Group of International Finance Centre Supervisors, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund. She has been actively involved and remains engaged with multiple boards within the local financial and immigration industries.
In her current roles as a member of the Bank’s board and chairperson of its Audit and Compliance Committee, Dr Todman Smith leverages her extensive experience and unique background to offer strategic direction in compliance and risk management.
