THE NATIONAL BANK OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS (“the Bank”) is seeking qualified persons to fill the following full-time position:


Job Summary:

To assist with the oversight of the Bank’s compliance function through the collaborative establishment, implementation and maintenance of an effective compliance program and Operational/Business Risk Management framework to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct within the Bank and ensure that all business is conducted in accordance with the laws of the Virgin Islands.

Educational/Training/Skill Requirements: i) Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Banking, Economics, Finance,
Business Administration, or a related field; ii) ACAMS, ICA or related professional designation in
Compliance; and iii) A sound level of familiarity with the laws of the Virgin Islands; iv) Proficiency in
Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Experience: Minimum five (5) years experience in a senior compliance role with proficient knowledge
of principles and practices outlined in Anti Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing
Legislation, and hands-on experience with risk assessments, review of politically-exposed persons,
FATCA compliance, review and preparation of SARs and other reports; compliance presentations
and staff training. General banking, legal, audit, corporate and trust knowledge and experience (e.g.
STEP qualifications) would be a key asset.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with ensuring that the Bank’s policies, procedures and daily operations are in full
compliance with the laws of the Virgin Islands;
• Assist with maintaining a library of compliance resources and ensures the dissemination of all
relevant information (including amendments to rules, regulations, and laws) to the appropriate
• Assist with the continuous training of the Bank’s staff on compliance, regulatory issues and
best practices; research and respond to enquiries related to compliance matters raised by the
Bank’s Board, Management and Staff;
• Assist with the review and maintenance of the Bank’s Compliance Manual, Code of Conduct
and other policies and procedures;
• Supervise the daily compliance checks within the organization; conduct sampling and periodic
compliance reviews to confirm staff’s adherence to procedures and policies, and prepare
compliance reports on a quarterly basis;
• Monitor PEPs and High Risk Accounts; review Unusual Activity Reports and assist with the
oversight and enforcement of a system for uniform handling and reporting of violations of
procedures, policies, and the laws of the Virgin Islands; and
• Serve as the Bank’s Money Laundering and Reporting Officer (“MLRO”).
